Cost

What a year of bookings costs

Checkfront ($99 + 3%) against Tourtify Growth, billed yearly. Card processing is charged on top in both cases, so it is left out.

One plan, plus a fee on online sales

Checkfront publishes a single plan: $99 a month plus a 3% fee on online bookings, with no fee on offline bookings and no setup fee. You can absorb the fee or pass it on to your guests.

At $150,000 of online bookings a year that is $4,500 in fees on top of $1,188 for the plan. Tourtify charges a flat monthly plan and nothing per booking, so a strong season doesn't raise your software bill.

Widgets or a whole website

Checkfront gives you booking widgets to place on a website you run yourself. Tourtify includes the website: themes made for tour operators, a visual editor and page builder, tour pages with itineraries, maps, reviews and FAQs, a blog and search engine settings, in up to 28 languages on your own domain.

Tours as well as rentals

Checkfront grew up with rentals and inventory-style bookings, with daily, multi-day, timeslot and flexible availability. Tourtify is built around tours: departures with day-by-day itineraries and printable trip PDFs, traveller types and per-date prices, deposits and instalments, guides, manifests and QR check-in. Rentals, passes and memberships are available as a plugin.

Why operators choose Tourtify

What you get with Tourtify

  • No percentage on bookings
  • A complete booking website with themes included
  • Deposits, balances and instalments
  • Departures and itineraries for multi-day tours
  • Import your customers and bookings from a Checkfront CSV export, checked row by row before anything changes

When Checkfront may suit you better

  • You mainly rent equipment or rooms and rely on Checkfront's inventory tools.
  • Most of your bookings are taken offline, where Checkfront charges no fee.
  • You only need booking widgets on a website you already maintain.

Moving from Checkfront

  1. 1Export from Checkfront. Download your customers and bookings as CSV files from Checkfront.
  2. 2Start a Tourtify trial. Set up your business on its free address. Nothing you do there affects your live website.
  3. 3Import with a dry run. Upload the CSV files. Tourtify shows every row it will create, and what it will skip, before anything changes.
  4. 4Add tours and payments. Create your tours, prices and departures, connect your own payment provider and take a test booking.
  5. 5Switch your domain. Point your domain at Tourtify and add redirects from old links. Keep Checkfront open until the bookings made there have run.

FAQ

Tourtify vs Checkfront: questions

Something else? Talk to our team.

How much does Checkfront cost?

At the time of writing Checkfront's pricing page lists $99 a month plus a 3% online booking fee, with no fee on offline bookings. Pricing may vary by region and currency.

Does Tourtify handle rentals?

Yes. The Rentals, passes and memberships plugin covers equipment and pass sales next to your tours.

Is Tourtify cheaper than Checkfront?

It depends on how much you sell and on Checkfront's current pricing. Tourtify is a flat monthly price with no fee per booking, so its cost doesn't grow with your sales. Use the calculator on our home page with your own numbers and compare it with Checkfront's pricing.

Can I move my tours from Checkfront?

Yes. Bring your tours across with the importer or set them up in the console, add redirects from your old links, and switch your domain when you're ready. We'll help you plan the move.

Can I keep selling on other channels while I switch from Checkfront?

Yes. Build and test your Tourtify site on its free address first. Resellers can connect through OCTO, and agents get their own links, so nothing stops while you move.

Do I need to sign a long contract?

No. Monthly plans have no long-term contract, and you can export your bookings at any time.
