What you can build
The Public API lets your own software work with your Tourtify business: read your tours and live availability, get a quote for a group on a date, create bookings and cancel them, and read bookings back for your CRM, accounting or reporting tools. Typical uses are a custom booking flow inside an app, a kiosk, a partner portal, or a nightly export into a data warehouse.
The API is described in an OpenAPI document, so you can generate a client in most languages, explore the endpoints in standard tools and keep your integration in step with ours.
Keys with only the access they need
Each API key has scopes: reading the catalogue (tours, availability and quotes), reading bookings, or writing bookings. Give a reporting tool a read-only key and a booking app a key that can create bookings, and revoke either without touching the other.
Requests are rate limited per key to keep your business fast for everyone, and every booking made through the API goes through the same availability, pricing, discount and payment rules as your website.
Selling through distribution platforms
If you sell through resellers or distribution platforms, Tourtify also speaks OCTO, the open standard for tours and activities connectivity, through the Channel manager plugin, with its own endpoints for products, availability and bookings. A reseller that supports OCTO can connect without a custom integration.
To hear about changes as they happen rather than polling, pair the API with the Webhooks plugin: create bookings through the API and receive confirmations, payments and cancellations as signed webhook events.
Setting up Public API
- 1Switch on Public API. Open Plugins in your console and turn it on (Scale plan).
- 2Create an API key. Name it after the system that will use it and choose its scopes.
- 3Read the OpenAPI description. Download it or point your API tool at it to explore every endpoint.
- 4Test with a quote. List tours, check availability for a date and request a quote before creating a booking.
- 5Add webhooks. Switch on Webhooks to be told about bookings and payments as they happen.

AI app connections (MCP)
Connect ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP app to your business and ask in plain words: what’s on tomorrow, who still owes a balance, how sales compare with last month. Each person signs in and chooses what the app may see; every call uses their own permissions and appears in the activity log.
Webhooks
Send signed booking events to your CRM, accounting or automation tools (Zapier, Make, n8n). Several endpoints, retries for 3 days, a delivery log with resend.
FAQ
Public API: questions
Which plans include the Public API?
The Scale plan. Webhooks are a separate plugin, so you can use them with or without the API.
Do API bookings follow my prices and rules?
Yes. Availability, prices, discounts, deposits and payments work exactly as they do on your website.
Can I give a partner read-only access?
Yes. Create a key with only the catalogue scope; it can read tours, availability and quotes but not bookings.
Which plans include Public API?
Public API is available on Scale, at no extra cost.
How do I switch on Public API?
In your Tourtify console, open Plugins, find it in the list and switch it on. Its settings open straight away, and you can switch it off again at any time.
Do I need a developer?
Only to build the system on the other side. Inside Tourtify, everything is set up from the console.
Does Public API work with my other plugins?
Yes. Every plugin is built and maintained by Tourtify, so they work together: discounts, deposits, vouchers and fees all add up correctly at checkout.
