Trekking & expeditions
Run treks properly: permits and fees per traveller worked out from their nationality, document checks, the permit checklist and agency submission sheet, crew with licences, porter loads and wages, teahouse nights, an emergency plan for the crew, daily check-ins from the trail and an incident and evacuation log.

Settings
What you can set up
Trekking & expeditions works out of the box with sensible defaults. These are the choices you can make, straight from your console.
Permits
- Country your treks run in
- Two-letter country code. Its citizens pay the national fee; SAARC rules apply when it is a SAARC country.
- Exchange rates for permit fees
- When fees are in another currency than a booking, e.g. "NPR=136.5" means 1 of your main currency = 136.5 NPR. Rates from the Currency switcher are used first.
Documents
- Passport must be valid for (months after the trek)
Crew
- Most trekkers per licensed guide
- Nepal’s restricted-area rule (2026) is at most 7 trekkers per guide.
- Trekkers per porter
- Used to warn when a departure has too few porters.
- Maximum porter load (kg)
- Porter welfare guidelines (IPPG) set 30 kg as the upper limit in Nepal; many responsible operators use 20–25 kg.
Safety
- Alert when the crew hasn’t checked in for (hours)
- During a trek, your team gets an email when no check-in arrives in this time. Set 0 to turn the alert off.
