Mobile banking and cards through Fonepay
Fonepay connects to the mobile banking apps that many travellers in Nepal use, as well as cards. The Fonepay plugin offers it at checkout and pays the money into your own Fonepay web payment merchant account.
Fonepay charges in Nepali rupees only. It appears for tours with an NPR price, and the status panel warns you if your website's main currency is something else.
Merchant code, secret key and DV signatures
Fonepay gives you a merchant code (PID) and a secret key when your web payment account is set up, with a separate pair for its test environment. Tourtify signs each payment request with the secret key (Fonepay's DV value) and passes the booking reference with it, so the payment is easy to find in your Fonepay records.
When the traveller returns, Tourtify checks the DV signature on Fonepay's response and that the payment reference matches. For a successful payment it then calls Fonepay's verification API, and confirms the booking only when Fonepay answers that the payment succeeded.
Fonepay has no endpoint for checking keys, so the first payment proves them: with a wrong key, the payment fails on Fonepay's page. Make a test payment before you go live.
Know this: the traveller has to come back
Fonepay's verification API needs details that only arrive with the traveller when they return to your website. If a traveller pays and then closes the tab, Tourtify can't ask Fonepay about that payment, and the booking stays pending.
When that happens, check the payment in your Fonepay portal and record it on the booking. The plugin's status panel explains this so your team knows where to look.
Refunds
Fonepay refunds are made through your Fonepay merchant portal or your bank. Refund the traveller there, then choose "I refunded it in the provider's dashboard" on the booking.
Setting up Fonepay
- 1Ask Fonepay for test keys. Fonepay sends a test merchant code (PID) and secret key with your web payment merchant account.
- 2Connect in Test mode. On the Payments page, enter the merchant code and secret key and choose Test. Payments then go to Fonepay's test environment.
- 3Make a test payment. Book a trip priced in NPR and pay. This proves the keys, since Fonepay has no separate key check.
- 4Switch to Live. Enter your live merchant code and secret key and choose Live.

How payment providers plugins fit in
Payment provider plugins add the gateways travellers use at home, from PayPal to Mercado Pago, Paystack, Razorpay, KOMOJU or eSewa. Each connects your own merchant account, so money is paid to you directly and Tourtify takes no commission. Stripe is built in; travellers only see gateways that support the booking's currency.

What does Fonepay charge?
Check with Fonepay or your bank. Tourtify takes no commission.
