Mailchimp & Brevo
Add every traveller and enquiry to your Mailchimp audience or Brevo list, tagged with the tour they booked or asked about, so your newsletters and win-back campaigns reach the right people.
Who it's for
Why operators use Mailchimp & Brevo
Operators who send newsletters or win-back campaigns with Mailchimp or Brevo.
Highlights
- Add every traveller and enquiry to your Mailchimp audience or Brevo list
- Contacts are tagged with the tour they booked or asked about
- Choose whether to add travellers, enquiries or both
- Your campaigns reach the right people without exports and imports
Keep your mailing list current without exports
Many operators already send newsletters and offers from Mailchimp or Brevo. The weak point is the list itself: someone exports bookings once a quarter, cleans a spreadsheet and imports it, and by then half the season’s travellers are missing. The Mailchimp & Brevo plugin adds people to your list as they book or enquire, so a campaign you send tomorrow reaches the people who travelled last week.
You choose one destination: a Mailchimp audience or a Brevo list. Tourtify sends each contact once, and later bookings or enquiries from the same email address update the existing contact rather than create a duplicate.
What each contact carries
When a booking is confirmed, the traveller who booked is sent with their first name, last name and email; Mailchimp also receives their phone number. They are tagged Traveller and Tour: followed by the tour’s name. When someone sends an enquiry, they are sent with the tag Enquiry and, if they asked about a specific tour, Tour: with its name. In Mailchimp these are real tags; in Brevo they are stored in a TOURTIFY_TAGS contact attribute you can filter on.
Tags are what make the list useful. Suppose a traveller asks about your Annapurna trek in March and books it in May. Her contact now carries Enquiry, Traveller and Tour: Annapurna Base Camp Trek. You can send a kit list to everyone tagged with that tour, or a win-back offer to people tagged Enquiry who have no Traveller tag, without building either list by hand.
Consent: who may receive marketing
A booking is not permission to send newsletters. For Mailchimp you choose the status new contacts get: Transactional, the default, keeps them off marketing emails; Subscribed should only be used if they agreed to hear from you; Pending asks Mailchimp to email them a confirmation first. Contacts already in your audience keep the status they have, so someone who unsubscribed is never resubscribed by a new booking.
With Brevo, contacts are added to the list you name and updated if they already exist. How Brevo treats that list for marketing is set in Brevo. If you would rather keep the list, consent records and sending inside Tourtify, the Campaigns plugin does that without a separate tool.
When something goes wrong
Contacts are sent in the background, so a slow Mailchimp or Brevo never holds up a booking. A failed send is retried several times with increasing gaps. If the connection details are missing, Tourtify records the problem in the delivery log and stops instead of retrying, so you can see what needs fixing.
Setting up Mailchimp & Brevo
- 1Choose Mailchimp or Brevo. Under Send contacts to, pick the tool you already use.
- 2Add the Mailchimp details. Paste your API key from Profile › Extras › API keys (it ends in your data centre, such as -us21) and the audience ID from the audience’s settings.
- 3Or add the Brevo details. Paste the API key from SMTP & API › API keys and, if you want contacts on a list, the list ID.
- 4Choose who to send. Keep travellers, enquiries or both switched on.
- 5Set the status for new Mailchimp contacts. Leave Transactional unless you collect marketing consent; then choose Subscribed or Pending.
- 6Check the first contact. After the next booking or enquiry, look for the person and their tags in Mailchimp or Brevo.

Can I send to Mailchimp and Brevo at the same time?
No. The plugin sends to one of them, the one you choose under Send contacts to.
Will someone who unsubscribed be added back?
No. In Mailchimp the status you choose only applies to new contacts; existing contacts keep theirs.

The person who made the booking, with the email address used at checkout.

How do I switch on Mailchimp & Brevo?
In your Tourtify console, open Plugins, find it in the list and switch it on. Its settings open straight away, and you can switch it off again at any time.
