Who it's for

Why operators use Revolut Business

Operators in the UK, Europe and the US who already bank with Revolut Business and want booking payments paid into that account.

Highlights

  • Travellers pay with cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Revolut Pay
  • 16 currencies, including GBP, EUR and USD
  • The webhook is registered for you when you connect your key
  • Full and partial refunds from the booking

Good to know

  • Prices are charged in GBP, EUR, USD or 13 other currencies.
  • You connect your own Revolut Business account from Payments in your console.
  • The webhook sets itself up when you connect, so in most cases there is nothing to paste.

Payments into your Revolut Business account

If you already run your business banking on Revolut Business, this plugin lets travellers pay into the same account. It uses Revolut's Merchant API and its hosted checkout page: travellers pay on Revolut's page with a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Revolut Pay, and the money is paid into your Revolut Business account. Tourtify never holds it, and the booking shows which method the traveller used.

Sixteen currencies

Revolut takes pounds sterling, euros and US dollars, as well as Australian, Canadian, New Zealand and Singapore dollars, Swiss francs, Czech koruna, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish kroner, Japanese yen, Polish zloty, Romanian lei and South African rand. It appears at checkout for tours priced in any of them, and the booking is charged in the tour's own currency. If your website's main currency isn't on the list, the plugin's status panel says so.

Checkout and confirmation

For each payment Tourtify creates a Revolut order with the amount, the currency, the traveller's email and your booking reference, captured automatically. The order is created with an idempotency key, so a request that is sent twice never makes a second order. The traveller pays on Revolut's checkout page and is sent back to your website.

Tourtify then reads the order back from Revolut. A completed order confirms the booking. A cancelled or failed one is closed, so the traveller can try again. A pending or authorised order is checked again; Revolut captures authorised payments a moment later. If the traveller doesn't come back, Tourtify keeps checking every five minutes for up to 26 hours.

A webhook that sets itself up

When you connect your key, Tourtify registers your business's webhook address with Revolut for four events: order completed, authorised, cancelled and failed. If a webhook for that address already exists, it is reused. The signing secret is saved in the plugin for you.

Each delivery is checked against that secret with an HMAC-SHA256 signature and must be no more than five minutes old. While you rotate the secret, Revolut sends a signature for each valid one and any of them is accepted. A webhook only tells Tourtify to read the order again, so a forged message can't mark anything paid.

If registration didn't work, for example because the address couldn't be reached at the time, create the webhook yourself with the Merchant API for the URL shown in the plugin and paste its signing secret (wsk_…) into the Webhooks section.

Refunds

Full and partial refunds are made from the booking and sent to Revolut with an idempotency key, so retrying a refund never pays the traveller twice. Refunds you make in Revolut itself don't reach Tourtify on their own: after making one, choose "I refunded it in the provider's dashboard" on the booking so the traveller's balance and your reports stay correct.

Sandbox and live

Revolut has a separate sandbox at sandbox-business.revolut.com with its own API key. In Test mode Tourtify uses Revolut's sandbox Merchant API and no real money moves; Live uses your production key. Keys are checked with Revolut before they are saved.

Setting up Revolut Business

  1. 1Copy your Sandbox API key. In a Revolut Business sandbox account, open Merchant › API and copy the secret key.
  2. 2Connect in Test mode. On the Payments page, add Revolut Business, paste the key and choose Test. Tourtify checks it and registers the webhook.
  3. 3Check the webhook. Open the plugin's settings: the Webhooks section shows the address and when the last webhook arrived.
  4. 4Make a sandbox booking. Pay with one of Revolut's test cards and check the booking confirms.
  5. 5Switch to Live. Update the key with the Production API key from Revolut Business › Merchant › API and choose Live.

Payment providers

How payment providers plugins fit in

Payment provider plugins add the gateways travellers use at home, from PayPal to Mercado Pago, Paystack, Razorpay, KOMOJU or eSewa. Each connects your own merchant account, so money is paid to you directly and Tourtify takes no commission. Stripe is built in; travellers only see gateways that support the booking's currency.

FAQ

Revolut Business: questions

Do I need to set up a webhook in Revolut?

Usually not. Tourtify registers it when you connect your key. Only if that fails do you create it yourself and paste the signing secret.

Which currencies can I charge in?

GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, CAD, CHF, CZK, DKK, JPY, NOK, NZD, PLN, RON, SEK, SGD and ZAR.

Can I refund part of a payment?

Yes. Full and partial refunds are sent to Revolut from the booking page.

What does Revolut charge?

Check Revolut Business's merchant pricing. Tourtify takes no commission.

Which plans include Revolut Business?

Revolut Business is available on All plans, at no extra cost.

How do I switch on Revolut Business?

In your Tourtify console, open Plugins, find it in the list and switch it on. Its settings open straight away, and you can switch it off again at any time.

Do I need a developer?

No. Plugins are built into Tourtify and set up from the console. Where an outside account is involved, such as a payment provider, you connect it by entering your account details.

Does Revolut Business work with my other plugins?

Yes. Every plugin is built and maintained by Tourtify, so they work together: discounts, deposits, vouchers and fees all add up correctly at checkout.
