Payment methods travellers use in Latin America
In Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay, many travellers don't pay by card. They use Pix, boleto, OXXO, PSE, cash vouchers such as Efecty, Pago Fácil, Rapipago, PagoEfectivo and Servipag, or their Mercado Pago wallet. The Mercado Pago plugin offers these and cards through your own Mercado Pago account.
Mercado Pago appears at checkout for tours priced in ARS, BRL, CLP, COP, MXN, PEN or UYU. Your Mercado Pago account's country decides which methods the checkout page shows.
Vouchers and held seats
A boleto or OXXO voucher is paid later, at a bank or a shop. When there is enough time before the trip for a voucher to be paid and clear, Tourtify offers voucher methods with an expiry date to match. When there isn't, voucher methods are left out and only immediate methods are offered.
While a voucher waits to be paid, the booking stays pending and the seats stay held. If the voucher expires unpaid, the seats go back on sale. The Mercado Pago page itself stops taking payments when the seats stop being held.
Confirming payments and the webhook
Tourtify confirms a booking only when Mercado Pago reports an approved payment for it. Payments Mercado Pago is reviewing are flagged for your team; Mercado Pago usually decides within two days. Declined attempts don't close the checkout, so the traveller can try again.
Mercado Pago is told the webhook URL on every payment. Add the same URL under Webhooks in your Mercado Pago app and paste the secret signature into Tourtify: notifications are then signed and checked, payments confirm instantly and refunds made in Mercado Pago show up on bookings. Without it, pending payments are still checked every five minutes.
Refunds
A refund from a booking is sent to Mercado Pago in full or in part, with an idempotency key so it is never made twice.

How payment providers plugins fit in
Payment provider plugins add the gateways travellers use at home, from PayPal to Mercado Pago, Paystack, Razorpay, KOMOJU or eSewa. Each connects your own merchant account, so money is paid to you directly and Tourtify takes no commission. Stripe is built in; travellers only see gateways that support the booking's currency.

FAQ
Mercado Pago: questions
Why does Live mode reject my token?
It belongs to a Mercado Pago test user. Use it in Test mode, and paste your production token for Live.
Why can't a traveller pay by boleto or OXXO?
The trip is too close for a voucher to be paid and clear in time, so only immediate methods are offered.
What does Mercado Pago charge?
Check Mercado Pago's pricing for your country. Tourtify takes no commission.
Which plans include Mercado Pago?
Mercado Pago is available on All plans, at no extra cost.
How do I switch on Mercado Pago?
In your Tourtify console, open Plugins, find it in the list and switch it on. Its settings open straight away, and you can switch it off again at any time.
Do I need a developer?
No. Plugins are built into Tourtify and set up from the console. Where an outside account is involved, such as a payment provider, you connect it by entering your account details.
Does Mercado Pago work with my other plugins?
Yes. Every plugin is built and maintained by Tourtify, so they work together: discounts, deposits, vouchers and fees all add up correctly at checkout.
