Get paid straight into your own account

Connect Stripe in about five minutes or add PayPal and regional gateways. Tourtify never holds your money and takes no commission on bookings.

Overview

Online payments at a glance

Travellers pay you directly through your own payment account. Stripe is the default card provider and connects through Stripe Connect in about five minutes; PayPal and regional gateways connect with your own keys once their plugin is on.

Every payment is checked against its booking. If something doesn't add up, the booking is kept, owners and admins get an alert and the dashboard shows payments to check, so mistakes never slip through.

Your account, your money, your responsibilities

With Tourtify, travellers pay into your own payment account. Tourtify never holds the money and takes no commission. The provider pays out to your bank on its own schedule and charges its usual fees.

The other side of that arrangement is that the relationship with the provider is yours. You complete their identity and bank checks, you answer their questions about disputes, and their terms apply to your account. In practice that means finishing setup before you open tours for sale, not on the day the first booking arrives.

Stripe Connect or your own Stripe key

Stripe Connect is the quickest route. You choose where your business is registered, complete Stripe's form on Stripe's site in about five minutes, and come back to Tourtify, which shows Ready for payments once Stripe approves the account. Progress is saved if you stop half-way.

If you already have a Stripe account you want to keep full control of, connect it with a restricted key instead. Tourtify checks the key with Stripe, stores it encrypted and sets up the webhook for you. You can move to Stripe Connect later. Either way, the Payment methods list shows what your Stripe account offers and notes such as which methods can pay a balance automatically.

Worked example: international and local travellers

Imagine an operator in Nepal who prices trekking packages in US dollars for overseas travellers and day tours in Nepalese rupees for local ones. Stripe takes the card payments for the dollar tours. The Khalti, eSewa and Fonepay plugins are switched on and connected with the operator's own keys for the rupee tours.

A provider that only takes some currencies is only offered for tours priced in those currencies, so the overseas traveller is never shown a local wallet they cannot use. Hide providers that don’t take … keeps the list in settings to the ones that fit your main currency.

Money that arrives outside the checkout

Not every payment comes through your website. When a traveller pays the balance by bank transfer or in cash at the office, open the booking, choose Record payment, enter the amount and how it was paid, and add the transfer reference as a note. When payments cover the total, the booking becomes fully paid, and the traveller receives a Payment received receipt showing what is left to pay.

For money still owed, Email payment link sends a branded email with a secure link to pay online. Select several bookings in the list to send links in bulk, for example to every traveller on next month's departures.

When a payment does not add up

Every payment is checked against its booking. If the amount does not match, if the provider is holding the money, or if the payment arrived after the seats were gone, the booking is kept, owners and admins are emailed and the dashboard shows payments to check. Tourtify also asks providers about payments that are still pending, which catches travellers who paid and closed the tab before returning to your site.

Common mistakes: not adding the webhook address in a provider's dashboard where one is needed, so refunds and disputes made there do not appear in Tourtify; leaving a Stripe account at Taking payments. Payouts are not on yet; and disconnecting your only payment account, which stops online checkout until another is connected.

Matching payouts to bookings

For Stripe, Finance › Payments › Payouts shows every payout sent to your bank, broken down into the payments, refunds and fees it contains, each matched to its booking. Payouts are synced every few hours and when Stripe reports one paid or failed, and Sync now checks straight away.

Lines are flagged when something needs a look: Not in Tourtify for a payment taken directly in Stripe, Amount differs, Doesn't add up, Failed, and Not paid out yet for payments older than the number of days you choose, 7 by default. Export a payout as CSV for your accountant.

FAQ

Online payments: questions

Something else? Talk to our team.

What does Taking payments. Payouts are not on yet. mean?

Travellers can pay, but the provider still needs details from you before it pays money out to your bank. Choose Continue setup to see what is missing.

Why add a webhook in my provider's dashboard?

So payments, refunds and disputes made in the provider's dashboard show up in Tourtify on their own.

What happens to past bookings if I disconnect a provider?

Nothing. Disconnecting stops new payments through that account; past bookings, payments and refunds are not affected.

Does Tourtify charge a fee per booking?

No. Tourtify takes 0% commission; your provider charges its usual processing fees.

Who can connect payment accounts?

Only the business owner.

Are API keys stored safely?

Keys are checked with the provider and stored encrypted.
