Who it's for

Why operators use Mollie

Operators whose travellers are in Europe. Offering the payment methods people already use at home is one of the simplest ways to stop them abandoning checkout.

Highlights

  • Travellers pay with cards, iDEAL, Bancontact, SEPA, Klarna and other European methods
  • Money is paid into your own merchant account, never held by Tourtify
  • Payments are matched to the booking automatically, so balances and receipts stay correct
  • Works alongside Stripe and your other payment options

Good to know

  • Prices are charged in the currencies your Mollie account supports.
  • You connect your own merchant account from Payments in your console.
  • Payments confirm instantly and refunds made in Mollie show up on your bookings.

Local European payment methods from one account

Travellers in Europe often prefer their own country's method: iDEAL in the Netherlands, Bancontact in Belgium, SEPA bank payments, or Klarna to pay later. The Mollie plugin offers these and cards through your own Mollie account.

Tourtify sends the traveller to Mollie's hosted checkout, which shows the methods you have switched on in your Mollie dashboard. Turning a method on or off there needs no change in Tourtify.

No webhook to configure

Tourtify adds its webhook URL to every Mollie payment it creates, so there is nothing to add in Mollie.

Mollie doesn't sign its notifications. Tourtify treats each one only as a prompt: it reads the payment back from Mollie with your API key, and acts on what Mollie returns. A paid payment confirms the booking. Expired, cancelled or failed payments are closed so the traveller can try again; open, pending and authorised payments wait.

Pending payments are also checked every five minutes, so a missed notification never leaves a booking unconfirmed.

Currencies

Mollie appears at checkout for tours priced in EUR, GBP, USD, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, PLN, CZK, HUF, RON, BGN, ISK, AUD, CAD, NZD, HKD, SGD, JPY or ZAR. Which methods work in which currency is up to Mollie, so check that the methods you want support your prices' currency.

Refunds in both directions

A refund from a booking is sent to Mollie in full or in part, with an idempotency key so a retry never refunds twice. Refunds you make in the Mollie dashboard arrive with Mollie's next notification for that payment and show up on the booking.

Setting up Mollie

  1. 1Copy a test API key. In the Mollie Dashboard › Developers › API keys, copy the key that starts with test_.
  2. 2Connect on the Payments page. Paste the key and choose Test. Tourtify checks that the prefix matches the mode and that Mollie accepts the key.
  3. 3Switch on your methods in Mollie. Activate the methods you want to offer, such as iDEAL, Bancontact or Klarna, in your Mollie dashboard.
  4. 4Make a test booking. Pay with one of Mollie's test methods and check the booking confirms.
  5. 5Go live. Update the key with your live_ key and choose Live.

Payment providers

How payment providers plugins fit in

Payment provider plugins add the gateways travellers use at home, from PayPal to Mercado Pago, Paystack, Razorpay, KOMOJU or eSewa. Each connects your own merchant account, so money is paid to you directly and Tourtify takes no commission. Stripe is built in; travellers only see gateways that support the booking's currency.

FAQ

Mollie: questions

Which payment methods will travellers see?

Those you have activated in Mollie that work for the booking's currency. Mollie decides what to show on its checkout page.

Do I need to set up a webhook in Mollie?

No. Tourtify sets the webhook URL on every payment automatically.

What does Mollie charge?

Mollie's fees differ by method, so check Mollie's pricing. Tourtify takes no commission.

What if the traveller closes the tab after paying?

Mollie still notifies Tourtify, and pending payments are checked every five minutes, so the booking confirms once Mollie reports the payment as paid.

Why doesn't Mollie show at checkout?

The tour is priced in a currency Mollie doesn't take. The plugin's status panel lists the supported currencies; add one with the Currency switcher and price the tour in it.

Which plans include Mollie?

Mollie is available on All plans, at no extra cost.

How do I switch on Mollie?

In your Tourtify console, open Plugins, find it in the list and switch it on. Its settings open straight away, and you can switch it off again at any time.

Do I need a developer?

No. Plugins are built into Tourtify and set up from the console. Where an outside account is involved, such as a payment provider, you connect it by entering your account details.

Does Mollie work with my other plugins?

Yes. Every plugin is built and maintained by Tourtify, so they work together: discounts, deposits, vouchers and fees all add up correctly at checkout.
