Gift vouchers
Sell or give gift vouchers with a value. Travellers enter the code at checkout and it pays like money, across as many bookings as the balance allows. Unused value comes back if a booking expires or is refunded.

Selling when nobody is booking
Tour bookings follow seasons and holidays. Gift vouchers let people buy your experiences as presents at any time of year, often for dates they haven't chosen yet. Each voucher has a value and a code. The person who receives it enters the code at checkout and it pays like money. The plugin is available on Starter.
Vouchers can be sold on your website or issued by your team, for example as a prize, a goodwill gesture or a partner deal. Codes start with your own prefix (“GIFT” by default, up to eight letters and numbers), so they are easy to recognise.
Selling vouchers online
Turn on online sales and visitors choose an amount, pay online and the voucher is emailed to them or straight to the person it is for, with a personal message. Buyers can pick a date to send it, so a voucher bought in early December can arrive on the 25th. The voucher also comes as a PDF.
Set the amounts to offer as a comma-separated list in your main currency, for example 50, 100 and 200. You can also let buyers enter their own amount between a minimum and a maximum (25 and 500 by default). The shop needs an online payment account; the plugin page shows whether it is live.
How a voucher pays for trips
A voucher is a balance, not a one-off. A $200 voucher used on a $150 day tour leaves $50 for a later booking, until the balance runs out. If the booking costs more than the voucher, the traveller pays the difference by card or any other method you take.
Because a redemption is recorded as a payment on the booking, balances, refunds and reports all treat it like any other money. If a checkout paid partly with a voucher expires unpaid, the whole amount goes back on the voucher. If you refund a voucher payment, that amount goes back on the voucher too. With Self-service changes, you can even let travellers who cancel receive a gift voucher for what they paid.
Validity and local rules
Vouchers stay valid for a set number of months, 24 by default and up to 120. Many countries set a minimum validity for gift vouchers, so check the rule where you sell before shortening it.
With Point of sale on, vouchers can also pay for retail items at the till, using the same balance.
